Last week, I gave you five reasons why spring cleaning is important. Today, I want to help you tackle the challenge with a helpful guide.
Personally, I love spring cleaning! Opening up the windows and letting in fresh air is therapeutic in itself, but to top it off with a newly organized and refreshed home is something I look forward to every year.
So set aside a weekend to ensure you have adequate time to finish and do a good job, then follow this guide to make spring cleaning a breeze!
Start with the bathrooms. Remove mineral deposits, rust, and such from toilets and shower/tub. Scrub the floors and wipe down all surfaces with a disinfectant.
Next, I would work on the kitchen which can be tough because there is so much stuff in it. Before you break out the broom, go through your cabinets and drawers, and put together a box of items to donate and a box of items to store somewhere besides the kitchen. Clear your countertops of everything except items you use nearly every day. After you’ve de-cluttered, you can get to work cleaning. You should be able to clean surfaces like countertops, sinks, and stoves with warm water, a microfiber cloth, and a bit of elbow grease!
Bedrooms would be the next on my to do list. We should start out by rotating and flipping our mattresses. We should also go through your closet, and donate items you haven’t worn in the last year.
The last room I clean is the living area. Start by treating or cleaning your upholstery. If your living room has carpet, now would be a great time to get it professionally cleaned, or rent a cleaner and do it yourself. This is a tempting step to skip but will go a long way in fighting allergies!

DON’T FORGET TO:
• Clean blades of ceiling fans.
• Sort through and organize family photographs (digitally or into albums).
• Sort and clean any extra zones such as linen closets, utility closets and office spaces.
